Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting market research to identify trending and in-demand products to capture sales opportunities in the market.
  • Sourcing new suppliers overseas, ensuring product quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and supply reliability.
  • Developing and executing buying strategies aligned with sales goals and inventory needs.
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure the best possible terms for pricing, delivery schedules, and returns.
  • Monitoring supplier performance, ensuring timely order fulfillment and adherence to quality standards.
  • Curating product assortments that meet customer preferences and trends.
  • Staying updated on global market trends and competitor offerings to refine the product portfolio.
  • Evaluating the performance of purchased products and adjusting buying strategies accordingly.
  • Managing purchase orders, shipping arrangements, and import documentation to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinating with compliance, logistics, and customs teams to ensure compliance with import regulations and timely delivery.
  • Maintaining accurate records of buying activities and preparing regular reports for management review.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • At least 5 years of experience in buying or procurement, preferably in the e-commerce or retail industry.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to secure advantageous terms from suppliers.
  • Knowledge of global sourcing, product trends, and supplier evaluation processes.
  • Familiarity with import regulations and customs processes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL) for decision-making.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken Chinese and English. Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., Japanese, Korean) is an advantage.
