Technical Team Lead/ Engineering Manager (Data Center/Critical Facilities)

The
Technical Team Lead / Engineering Manager
leads the
Critical Facilities team
at the Taipei 16MW facility, ensuring fully
reliable infrastructure
with continuity of service, energy efficiency, and budget compliance. With strong hands-on expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, you will manage preventive and corrective maintenance, system repairs, testing, equipment commissioning, and ongoing operations.

You will lead a team of Critical Facilities Engineers and Technicians (electrical and mechanical), as well as contracted maintenance teams, providing
technical coaching
, manpower planning, and approving operational procedures (MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, ERPs). Performing regular site inspections, you will also oversee emergency response, incident management, and initiatives to maintain
long-term operational sustainability
.

Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders, you will support smooth operations, commissioning, defect resolution, and oversee operational and CAPEX budgets. Experience in
large plant environments
or
mission-critical facilities
(banks, hospitals, airports, semiconductor fabs, or power plants) is preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Facility Reliability
  : Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure, ensuring the Critical Facilities team maintains fully reliable infrastructure with
  energy efficiency, continuity of service, and budget adherence
  . Approve MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, ERPs, work orders, change records, and corrective actions; ensure all maintenance workflows and spare parts inventory are managed to global standards via CMMS. Utilizes the current CMMS program to administer and refine an effective preventative maintenance plan tailored to the facility.
• Maintenance Work
  :Coordinate, oversee, and supervise quality assurance of maintenance and service repairs for all critical facility and building engineering systems, including - but not limited to -
  electrical distribution (12kV and below), emergency diesel generators, UPS/Battery backup systems, HVAC systems (Chillers, CRACs, Cooling Towers, Package Units, etc.), BMS infrastructure, fire prevention systems
  , and other electro-mechanical and control equipment throughout the data center campus. Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved MOPs and the Vantage's Mission Critical Facility work rules.
• Operations Management
  : Perform
  regular site inspections
  to maintain continuous surveillance of the facility. Ensure safe, effective, and reliable operation of all mechanical and electrical systems, including monitoring capacity, performance, and efficiency (PUE, WUE). Provide technical support during incidents, review switching operations, and approve corrective actions. Establish and maintain periodic operational testing schedules for critical systems and equipment.
• 24/7 Operations & Emergency Management
  : Oversee and supervise the efficient 24/7/365 operation of the facility equipment and systems. Ensure emergency standby duty is in place to maintain mission-critical data center operations. Lead incident response, post-event reviews, and root cause analysis to minimize downtime. Strive toward a
  goal of zero down-time
  in operations by virtue of reliable system performance.
• Manpower Planning
  : Plan and manage manpower for engineers and technicians working in shifts to ensure 24/7 mission-critical coverage.
• Team Leadership
  : Lead and develop the Critical Facilities Engineering team through training, performance management, hiring, and competency tracking. Promote a customer-focused, team-oriented environment while holding employees accountable for operational excellence.
• Technical Coaching & Upskilling
  : Guide team on complex tasks such as MOP development, capital planning, equipment lifecycle management, and spare parts inventory.
• Compliance & Safety
  : Enforce adherence to Vantage's safety standards, PPE usage, and government regulations. Oversee audits, technical reviews, and crisis management drills to maintain compliance with SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and ERPs. Manage the site Lock-out / Tag-out program, strictly adhering to OSHA regulations.
• Vendor & Contractor Management
  : Manage contractor performance, scope of work, and compliance with site rules and approved procedures. Oversee bidding, awarding, and administration of service contracts.
• Customer & Stakeholder Communication
  : Ensure positive customer experiences through transparent communication. Collaborate with internal teams (Construction, Operations) to align on project impacts, commissioning, and defect resolution.
• Project & Budget Oversight
  : Oversee the purchasing of parts, equipment, and services to support operations within budget. Ensure adequate spare parts are maintained to allow expeditious repairs. Prepare operational and CAPEX budgets, review and approve work orders, service events, and change records. Lead post-event reviews, root cause analysis, and implement improvements for operational sustainability.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience
  in operations, maintenance, site/facility management, or electrical/mechanical system engineering in
  manufacturing (semiconductor) or complex mission-critical environments
  (e.g., banks, hospitals, airports, power plants, data centers).
• 3–5 years of people leadership experience
  , including managing teams of 5 or more direct reports in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision.
• Experience in supervisory or leadership development with proven ability to
  lead by example
  , promote process improvements, and develop the team's
  problem-solving and analytical skills
  .
• Strong technical writing skills
  and experience; as well as creating, coordinating, updating and/or modifying MOP/EOP/SOPs for critical facilities equipment, to include supporting new systems and researching technical requirements.
• Possess
  registered local government certification
  to perform electrical switching and/or mechanical service operations.
• Experienced in
  electrical equipment operations
  , including resetting circuit breakers and implementing
  lockout/tagout procedures
  to ensure safety after incidents.
• Experience in
  HVAC, VOC, SCR, LPG systems, or other power infrastructure
  , including CCNR or other equivalent equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Manage
  preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  carried out by vendors and staff, maintaining site governance through equipment readings, measurements, and directing corrective actions as needed.
• Proficient in
  building automation systems (BMS/CMMS)
  and technical/design documentation tools such
  as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Procore.
• Prior experience with
  ISO standards and OHS/EHS control processes
  is advantageous.
• Able to respond to emergencies outside
  of regular office hours, with reliable transportation.
• Bilingual in English and Mandarin
  : English for technical reporting, leadership meetings, and presentations in a multinational environment; Mandarin for effective communication with shopfloor staff, technicians, and engineers.
