Job Description:
The Role:

  • Facility/Utility Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and management of utility systems, such as electricity, gas, chemicals, water, and wastewater. He or she works with authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory emission limits/permits.
  • Facility/Utility Manager is also responsible for security and landscaping of the facility

In this role you will:

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations
  • Oversee the operations, maintenance, and repair of utility systems
  • Develop and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs and environmental impact
  • Manage utility budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Manage security and landscaping contracts to ensure facility is safe and landscaping well maintained
  • Supervise and train utility staff, including engineers, technicians and operators
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure their requirements are met with no disruptions to their operations, and external stakeholders (fire bureau, environmental bureau, safety bureau, etc) to ensure regulatory compliances
  • Develop and implement a list of capital projects (new installations, upgrades and maintenance of critical equipment)
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure utility system reliability
  • Respond to utility related emergencies, such as power outages or water main breaks

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • 10 years+ experience in facilities/utilities
  • Strong mechanical skills and knowledge of HVAC and building management systems
  • Wastewater plant & boilers operation experiences are preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management, employees and team members
  • Good time management, organization and prioritization abilities
  • Great problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient in English
