Application Engineer

Application Engineer will work very closely with AMETEK Solidstate Controls (SCI) international sales and marketing in identifying business opportunities for the region. This role will interface closely with customers in identifying their needs and collecting and interpreting VOC (Voice of the Customer) data. This role will provide solutions to companies such as Exxon/Esso, BP Amoco, Chevron, CNOOC, Petronas, PLN, EGAT, Pertamina, Saudi Aramco and other large industrials.

What You Will Do

• This position will require interaction with various Solidstate Controls offices located throughout the world.
• Position will be based out of the AMETEK Solidstate Controls operations in Malaysia.
• The Applications Engineer must possess both technological and business skills, in addition to in-depth knowledge of industrial batteries, AC-DC rectifiers, DC-AC inverters, and AC regulators. The ability to communicate with engineering as well as business partners is required, and desire to meet and work with people of different business backgrounds are essential qualifications. The ability and desire to travel along with the ability to meet strict deadlines are required attributes.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English is required.

• In addition to the general description mentioned above, this position is responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Consult with design and or manufacturing engineering on highly technical problems.

• Prepare complete Technical & Commercial Proposals for Strategic Accounts. The Application Engineer must be involved both on the technical and commercial front in all RFQs assigned to.

• Generates proposals for products and systems to include commercial terms, technical compliance, and project specific details while emphasizing the advantages of our products and how they benefit the customer including but not limited to:

• Review pricing, technical specifications, and commercial terms on new orders.

• Resolves issues with customers prior to order acceptance.
• Provide support to Clients, Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and our Sales Partners in clarifying factory-generated proposals and in re-quoting as required.
• Assist & support Sales / Channel Partners, Representatives & Regional Managers in cost-effective product selection and in the design of complete power protection systems.
• Work with RSM and/or Director of Sales to assist them in improving the completeness and accuracy of their Booking forecasts.
• Work with RSM and / or Director of Sales in creating strategies to keep key accounts.
• Must be able to travel to client and sales representative locations for sales calls, presentation of quotations, seminars, training, and client relationship building.
• Must be able to give technical presentations and have an understanding of AC/DC electrical power systems.

We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably electrical. Equivalent educational and/or work experience is considered.
• Minimum 1-5 years' experience working with similar products or in related markets is a plus.
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in spoken English.
• Computer literacy with knowledge in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Ability to work independently and interact with people.
• Interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated, resourceful, and positive work attitude.
