Finance Controller

A leading organisation in Taipei is seeking a Finance Controller to take ownership of finance operations for its Taiwan entities, acting as the primary liaison with Group Finance in Singapore. This pivotal role offers you the opportunity to blend rigorous statutory reporting under Taiwan GAAP (TIFRS) with group consolidation responsibilities under IFRS, while also preparing US GAAP bridges for global reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete accounting cycle for Taiwan entities, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closes in accordance with TIFRS standards.
- Prepare comprehensive reporting packages for group consolidation purposes; lead IFRS adjustments and manage US GAAP reconciliations as required by group or SEC reporting needs.
- Ensure strict adherence to group accounting manuals and finance policies while localising procedures for Taiwan operations without compromising head office requirements.
- Design, implement, and monitor robust internal controls aligned with FCTR/SOX standards—including IT general controls—and proactively address any identified gaps through actionable remediation plans.
- Drive ongoing improvements in close processes, consolidation activities, and financial reporting by leveraging automation tools such as RPA or BI solutions to enhance data quality and reduce cycle times.
- Provide training to finance staff and cross-functional colleagues on policy updates as well as implications of TIFRS/IFRS/US GAAP changes to maintain high levels of compliance and governance.
- Coordinate external audits or reviews by preparing PBCs (Provided By Client), maintaining audit-ready documentation, and ensuring thorough balance sheet substantiation at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FSC/TWSE/MOPS filing formats along with local disclosure requirements to ensure regulatory compliance is always met.
- Guarantee timely submission of all tax filings (CIT, VAT, WHT), statutory reports, company law documents, and other regulatory submissions relevant to Taiwan operations.
- Identify potential financial or operational risks; maintain a country risk register with clear remediation plans while upholding corporate governance standards and ethical guidelines.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is essential; holding CPA or ACCA certification (from TW/US/SG or equivalent) is highly desirable for this position.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles—including 3–5 years spent in managerial or lead finance positions within multinational corporations—is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in TIFRS and IFRS is crucial; practical experience preparing or assessing US GAAP statements would be considered an advantage.
- Proven track record managing compliance frameworks—including governance structures and internal controls—with prior SOX compliance exposure being particularly valuable.
- Strong background in strategic planning activities such as budgeting/forecasting coupled with hands-on experience in commercial analytics and performance management is expected.
- Advanced proficiency using Excel (including modelling techniques, pivot tables, complex formulas) alongside working knowledge of Power BI is necessary; familiarity with ERP/consolidation systems like SAP/Oracle/NetSuite would be beneficial.
- Fluency in both Mandarin and English—with excellent written and verbal communication skills—is vital for effective interaction with headquarters staff as well as cross-functional stakeholders.
- A collaborative leadership style marked by agility to operate at both strategic oversight level and hands-on execution level is important for success in this role.
About The Organization
This organisation stands out for its commitment to fostering a collaborative workplace where every team member's contribution is valued. The leadership team prioritises open communication channels so your ideas can help shape future strategy—making this an ideal environment if you are looking for meaningful impact within a supportive network.
