Job Description
Matter project management:
Build matter roadmaps, timelines, and milestones; conduct risk tiering/scenario analysis; manage KPIs and budgets; consolidate internal/external resources; provide periodic legal reports to management.
Cross-border dispute management (Taiwan/US):
- Engage and manage outside counsel to ensure strategic alignment and cost efficiency.
- Plan and execute legal holds and e-Discovery (hold notices, data mapping, collection, production) with compliant cross-border data transfers.
- Handle jurisdiction/choice-of-law issues, protective orders, and subpoenas, and related procedural matters.
Product & supply-chain disputes:
Address defects/recalls, warranty and indemnity, stoppage/delay, and quality disputes; design legal response plans and internal communication checkpoints.
IP & trade secrets:
Coordinate with R&D, manufacturing, and operations on infringement monitoring, evidence preservation, and remedies (injunctions, damages); strengthen confidentiality and rights marking.
Contract risk management (non-negotiation):
- Maintain standard terms and risk registers (a structured list of key legal risks such as warranty, indemnity, liability caps, and dispute resolution).
- Conduct independent contract reviews and redlines to ensure enforceability and cross-border operability of dispute clauses.
Cross-functional collaboration:
Integrate inputs from Legal, Finance, Procurement, QA, R&D, Operations, and overseas subsidiaries to drive decisions and execution.
Management reporting:
Deliver case summaries, risk assessments, and resourcing recommendations; maintain a knowledge base of judgments and precedents.
Other:
Projects as assigned by management.
Condition
- Law degree (LL.B./J.D. or above); admission to the U.S. bar preferred.
- 5+ years' experience in corporate legal or law firm settings, including 3+ years in litigation/dispute resolution or matter management.
- Proven experience managing
cross-border matters (Taiwan/US)
; familiar with civil litigation, arbitration, and regulatory processes; working knowledge of e-Discovery and evidence preservation. - Able to independently review contract terms and flag risks (no responsibility for commercial negotiations).
- Strong project management, cross-functional communication, crisis response, and concise legal writing; high resilience under pressure.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English (spoken and written); able to interface smoothly with U.S. counsel and court procedures.
- Legal experience in semiconductor, electronics, auto parts, machinery, or related manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of trade compliance (EAR/ITAR/sanctions) and data protection regimes (Taiwan PDPA, CCPA/GDPR).
