  • In addition to contract review, this role requires a more proactive legal professional who can work closely with the business teams, provide guidance and recommendations, and ideally take the initiative to deliver training sessions, mini-presentations, or workshops for other colleagues.

What You'll Do
As Legal Manager, you will become an integral part of the organisation's legal function, acting as a trusted advisor who ensures all business activities comply with local regulations and company policies. Your day-to-day work will involve drafting and negotiating key contracts that underpin commercial success, monitoring evolving compliance requirements, advising on governance issues, managing disputes, and delivering impactful training sessions. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across departments as well as external partners such as regulators or counsel. By supporting strategic projects with sound legal insight, you will help drive responsible growth while safeguarding the organisation's interests. Success in this role comes from your ability to balance independent judgement with teamwork, adapt quickly to changing circumstances, communicate clearly in both English and Chinese, and maintain a proactive approach towards problem-solving.

  • Provide timely, proactive, and practical legal advice to all areas of the business in Taiwan, ensuring alignment with relevant laws and internal policies.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a broad spectrum of business documents including tenders, sale and purchase agreements, and other contracts arising from daily operations.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and compliance obligations relevant to the business, offering guidance and escalating issues when necessary to protect organisational interests.
  • Advise on corporate governance matters to ensure best practices are maintained throughout the company's operations.
  • Deliver internal training sessions on regulatory compliance requirements as well as general legal and risk management topics to enhance organisational awareness.
  • Manage claims and disputes efficiently by liaising with external counsel, regulators, and internal stakeholders as required.
  • Support strategic projects by providing insightful legal input that enables sustainable business growth while mitigating risks.
  • Handle any additional assignments delegated by senior legal leadership to contribute positively to team objectives.

What You Bring
In the Legal Manager position, your proven experience practising law in Taiwan equips you with deep knowledge of local regulations and industry standards. Your background includes drafting complex contracts, navigating compliance frameworks, handling disputes professionally, and advising on governance matters. You bring excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust among colleagues at all levels. Your fluency in English and Chinese enables clear communication across multicultural teams. You thrive when balancing independent tasks with collaborative projects—always ready to share insights or support others when needed. Your adaptability means you remain composed under pressure or when priorities shift unexpectedly. Above all, your enthusiasm for continuous learning ensures you stay ahead of regulatory changes while contributing positively to team goals.

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Law from a recognised institution is required for this position.
  • A valid licence to practise law in Taiwan with three to five years' post-qualification experience is essential for success in this role.
  • Admission in another jurisdiction would be considered an advantage but is not mandatory for consideration.
  • Fluency in both English and Chinese (written and spoken) is crucial for effective communication within the organisation and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed to explain complex legal concepts clearly across different audiences.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues early and resolving them efficiently demonstrates your commitment to supporting the business.
  • Sound judgement combined with strong business acumen allows you to offer practical solutions that align with organisational goals.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within teams ensures seamless delivery of legal services.
  • Adaptability is important as you respond constructively to changing business conditions or new challenges that arise.
  • A willingness to learn quickly supports your ongoing professional development within this dynamic environment.
