Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities
As a Senior Developer Advocate at AWS, you'll be a technical thought leader in the developer community, creating and presenting advanced content while mentoring junior advocates and influencing product roadmaps. Your expertise in both frontend and backend technologies will position you as a go-to expert for developers seeking guidance on building comprehensive cloud native applications. Key responsibilities include:

• Developing in depth tutorials and code samples demonstrating full stack applications on AWS
• Bridging the gap between frontend and backend development in the cloud, informing AWS product roadmaps with insights from both perspectives
• Participating in early-stage product ideation, bringing the voice of full stack developers to the table
• Engaging with the developer community through events, social media, forums, and Q&A platforms
• Supporting Developer Relations activities across the region and mentoring junior advocates

A day in the life

You might start setting up a serverless demo and writing technical whitepapers on scalable architectures. In the afternoon, you might prepare for an upcoming webinar, engage with the developer community, and explore innovative technical solutions. You might end your day leading cross-functional meetings on regional initiatives and hosting live coding sessions on Twitch. Throughout, you balance technical work, strategic planning, mentorship, and community engagement.

The Developer Experience team's mission is to explore the future of development so that we can help developers navigate a path to that future. Our goal is to inspire developers around the world. We show them how to practically use new technologies to build efficiently in the cloud. We show them new things they are now able to achieve, both in tackling more complex cloud problems and building new solutions that leverage generative AI. We earn trust with developers by being authentic, and by being practitioners ourselves. We are on an exciting journey together, and not everything is solved yet.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of hands on experience as a Software Developer with at least 4 years in a customer-facing or developer community-facing role
• Strong proficiency in at least one major frontend framework (React, Angular, or )
• Extensive experience with Java for backend development
• Familiarity with cloud services
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with experience delivering technical content to developers of varied backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services
• Experience with Machine Learning, Generative AI, or AI Engineering
• Ability to translate technical features into tangible business benefits
• Proven track record of influencing product decisions based on developer feedback
• Experience in mentoring junior developers
• Demonstrable experience engaging with developer communities, including creating technical content, public speaking, or active participation on platforms like GitHub, Stack Overflow, or developer forums.
• Willingness to travel as required
