About the Role:

We are an early-stage deep-tech research company developing next-generation computational modeling systems for advanced manufacturing. Our work involves simulating and understanding how energy interacts with materials at extremely small scales and how that affects pattern formation, variability, and reliability.

We are looking for a Physics / Simulation Engineer who can design, implement, and validate core physical models and simulation pipelines. This role focuses on fundamental modeling and provides the physical backbone for downstream machine learning components.

This position is ideal for candidates with strong foundations in computational physics, material modeling, or energy–matter interaction simulation.

What You Will Do:Physics & Materials Modeling:

  • Develop simplified physical models that describe how energy (photons, electrons, ions, thermal inputs, or mechanical forces) interacts with materials at small scales.
  • Construct simulation routines that approximate exposure, carrier transport, or material response using mathematical or numerical methods.
  • Implement multi-scale or probabilistic models that capture variability in physical systems.

Simulation Development:

  • Build Python- or C++-based simulation modules representing energy arrival, scattering, reaction, or material transitions.
  • Work with analytical models, Monte Carlo sampling, diffusion models, PDEs, or stochastic kernels to generate simulation data.
  • Conduct parameter sweeps, sensitivity analyses, and structured experiments to verify stability and realism.

Algorithmic & Numerical Work:

  • Implement numerical solvers, stochastic sampling routines, or simplified physical kernels.
  • Analyze simulation outputs for stability, convergence, and statistical behavior.
  • Document assumptions clearly and propose better approximations as data becomes available.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the AI/ML engineering team to ensure that physical models interface smoothly with downstream algorithms.
  • Participate in architecture decisions and help define model boundaries between physics-based simulation and data-driven learning components.

What We're Looking For:Required:

  • Strong background in physics, computational science, material modeling, or a related field.
  • Experience with numerical simulation, scientific computing, or physics-based modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar scientific programming languages.
  • Understanding of probability, stochastic processes, or statistical modeling.
  • Ability to build and debug complex simulation pipelines.
  • Strong mathematical intuition and curiosity-driven research mindset.

Plus:

  • Experience in semiconductor lithography, imaging, particle interactions, or resist modeling.
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo methods, diffusion modeling, or PDE solvers.
  • Experience with COMSOL, Lumerical, TCAD, FDTD, or physics simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of optical modeling, electron transport, or material microstructure modeling.
  • GPU-based simulation experience.
