We are a cutting-edge clinical Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) lab based in Taiwan, at the forefront of genetic research and diagnostics. Our mission is to revolutionize healthcare by providing accurate, reliable, and efficient genomic solutions at affordable prices for middle and low income population. We work closely with research institutions, medical professionals, and biotech companies to advance scientific discovery and improve patient outcomes. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Leader to join our dynamic team.
As the Lab Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our clinical NGS lab. You will lead a team of talented scientists and technicians, ensuring that all laboratory activities are performed with the highest level of quality, efficiency, and safety. The Lab Leader will play a critical role in driving innovation, implementing best practices, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate will possess at least a bachelor's master's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of five years of experience in clinical laboratory management. The Laboratory Leader will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the laboratory, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and leading a team of laboratory professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Laboratory Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and timely delivery of results.
- Design and manage the optimal utilization of NGS flow cells to ensure cost efficiency and achieving required testing Turn Around Time (TAT).
- Work with Laboratory Director to dDevelop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain high-quality standards.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensuring an adequate supply at all times.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure accurate test results and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends, evaluating and recommending new equipment and methodologies for improved laboratory efficiency.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to the laboratory staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Work with Laboratory Director to develop Staff Training Plan and Competency Assessments.
- Recruit, train, and supervise laboratory personnel, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and competency.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting teamwork, open communication, and knowledge sharing among staff members.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines, including CAP and ISOHCSA and CAP.
- Work with Laboratory Director to dDevelop and implement quality assurance and quality improvement programs to maintain and improve laboratory performance.
- Monitor and update laboratory policies and procedures in response to changing regulations and best practices.
- Implement and enforce laboratory safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to provide prompt and accurate laboratory results.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as R&D, Medical, Data team to ensure seamless integration and information exchange.
Equipment and Inventory Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies. Coordinate with vendors for procurement and service agreements.
Process Optimization:
- Continuously identify opportunities to streamline laboratory workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce turnaround time.
- Implement process enhancements to increase throughput and productivity.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collaborate with bioinformatics and data analysis teams to ensure accurate and timely data analysis and interpretation.
- Generate comprehensive reports and present findings to stakeholders.
Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Molecular Biology, Laboratory Science, Biotechnology, Life Science or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in clinical laboratory management, preferably in a medical/ NGS/ molecular biology laboratory.
- Familiarity with quality systems such as CAP, or ISO15189
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory operations, including test methodologies, equipment, quality control, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Proficient in using laboratory information systems and other relevant software applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
