New Business Development Manager

Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
Key Responsiblility:
- Staying Ahead and Rapid Assimilation of New Technologies:
- Continuously monitoring and analyzing advancements in technology, with a focus on identifying and understanding breakthroughs that could impact or enhance Corning’s product offerings
- Demonstrating agility in adapting to new technological paradigms and incorporating this knowledge into strategic planning
- Actively network within industries of interest to foster relationships that can lead to business development opportunities
- Represent Corning in industry forums, conferences, and professional networks to enhance the company’s profile and strategic interests
- Ideas Origination:
- Conduct in-depth market/technology research to understand customer needs and identify “jobs to be done” that align with Corning’s capabilities or potential outside investment opportunities
- Engage deeply with technology and industry experts to stay ahead of market/technology trends and identify emerging business opportunities
- Leading ideation sessions that leverage technological insights to inspire new product concepts and solutions
- Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that technological insights are integrated into the product development process
- Project Management:
- Coordinate cross-functional project management activities, especially including technology communities for product development and external partnerships
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and reporting for multiple projects simultaneously
- Customer Engagement:
- Engage with customers on technical and commercial topics to understand their needs and align Corning’s offering
- Facilitate discussions between product development teams and customers to ensure product-market fit
- Financial Modeling and Analysis:
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate the viability of business opportunities and investments
- Conduct rigorous business case analysis to support decision-making processe
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA is a plus
- Technical background especially in display, new materials, semiconductor, telecommunications is preferred
- Strong academic record
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
- 3+ years of work experience, with 1+ years of investment related experience, preferably in consulting, investment banking, corporate / business development
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly motivated and intelligent with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task
- Willing to travel depending on needs (domestic 20-30%, international 5%
