What You'll Do

• Oversee the end-to-end development process for IP camera devices, including initial concept, trial production phases, verification procedures, and transition into mass production environments.
• Select appropriate optical components based on project requirements and lead the detailed design process to ensure optimal performance in smart home applications.
• Conduct advanced optical simulations using industry-standard software tools to predict system behaviour and inform design decisions.
• Perform thorough data analysis on simulation results and experimental outcomes to refine product designs and resolve technical challenges.
• Integrate optical modules into broader device architectures, ensuring seamless application within complex electronic systems.
• Plan and execute experimental protocols, including designing tests, collecting data, and interpreting results to validate new technologies.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as mechanical engineering, electronics, and firmware groups to deliver cohesive product solutions.
• If acting as a manager, implement organisational development strategies aimed at strengthening the core technical capabilities of the optical engineering team.
• Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance on best practices in optical design, simulation techniques, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Contribute actively to ongoing process improvements by sharing insights from hands-on experience with both hardware integration and software-based analysis.

What You Bring

• A minimum of five years' proven experience working as an optical engineer within relevant industries such as imaging or consumer electronics.
• Comprehensive understanding of imaging optics principles combined with strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex issues independently or collaboratively.
• Demonstrated proficiency with leading optical simulation software packages including ZEMAX, CODE V, TracePro, ASAP or similar platforms used for modelling light propagation and system optimisation.
• Hands-on familiarity with AutoCAD drawing software for precise component layout and documentation purposes.
• Experience conducting experimental planning—designing tests, gathering data systematically, analysing results—and applying findings to improve product performance.
• Ability to integrate optical modules seamlessly into larger device frameworks while maintaining alignment with overall system objectives.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills enabling effective collaboration across diverse engineering disciplines within project teams.
