The Role
As a Global Supply Manager on the Hardware Operations team, you will be responsible for managing a variety of commodities across all of Block's Hardware portfolio. You will manage supplier business relationships which include pricing and contract negotiations, risk assessment, component quality, forecasting, order life cycles, and supply assurance. You will support sourcing strategies and have a proven track record in cost negotiation and supply chain management. Understanding manufacturing processes, having a keen interest in developing commodity risk management strategies, and managing business relationships is required. You will report to the Global Supply Manager Lead.
You Will
- Work cross-functionally with Product Design, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Product Team, and Operations to achieve best-in-class supplier selection and qualification
- Strategic Sourcing: vendor selection and relationship management, market intelligence on potential suppliers, monitoring vendor deliverables and schedules
- Supply management: work with suppliers to negotiate business terms and ensure Block receives the cost, quality, and performance necessary for today's global market. Influence Block's product roadmap and sourcing decisions
- Manage global supply chain disruptions in real time with the support of an international team
- Capacity planning, ramp readiness, yield, throughput improvement, and issue resolution
- Cost Management: negotiate pricing, cost reductions, RFQs, benchmarking, and cost modeling
- Risk Management: Analyze technical and business risks, and develop strategies for mitigation in a dynamic industry
- Travel ~15% mostly within Asia
You Have
- At least 8+ years of experience in Global Supply Management with semiconductor and silicon focus
- The ability and desire to perform highly independent and remote work
- A nuanced understanding of commodity landscapes in order to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces, as well as ability to identify changes in buyer and supplier leverage within core materials markets using competitive dynamics to Block's advantage
- Exposure dealing with multiple levels of management on external supplier engagements
- Exceptional ability to maintain and develop relationships within Block's internal teams, supplier teams, and management
- A demonstrated ability to articulate complex manufacturing and supply chain concepts to business and engineering stakeholders
- Knowledge of and experience with global supplier development and management, hardware development schedules, and cost management
- Strong negotiation skills
- Proven track record of meeting challenging organizational objectives
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work in multinational environments, and are driven and motivated by accomplishing world-class objectives
- Deep relationship management skills for dealing with Block's diverse supply base
- Great attention to detail with strong written / verbal communication skills
- Exceptional analytical and Excel skills
