Summary

The Senior Manager, Electrical Design Engineering is responsible for leading and managing the work of developing new electrical systems/circuits for various applications.  Research system ideas and draw up plans for these systems, and capture them in schematics and system specifications. Test, simulate, validate and qualify their systems and make adjustments as needed. Provide support throughout the manufacturing of the electrical systems they have designed. 

The Senior Manager, Electrical Design Engineering manages cross functional teams with other designers, customers, manufacturing engineering and project leadership to ensure robust and high quality product development.   Enhance designs with feedback from reviews in areas such as manufacturing, test, supply chain, reliability, industrial design and simulations.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Lead the design, development and implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.
• Global SME with comprehensive knowledge and industry recognition. Provides technical leadership and direction to a global team of engineers.
• Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)
• Reviews and interprets customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.
• Analyze trade-offs in complex systems and recommend solutions. Develop deployment strategies and plans.
• Lead the deployment of strategic technologies/programs and coordinate global deployment efforts.
• May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.
• Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and Celestica needs. E.g. creation of Schematics, Bills of material, diagrams, drawings, etc.
• Testing, simulation and measuring (including troubleshooting) the performance of systems
• Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations
• Solve complex problems
• Liaison with suppliers, customers, contractors, and other internal teams.
• Analyze and interpret data and information
• Recommend modifications for systems
• Create reports, minutes and updates
• Set yearly plans and goals for the department, give direction on expected performance, provide regular performance evaluations and ongoing feedback. Accountable for all department objectives and achieving agreed targets for key performance indicators

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. 
• Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
• Occasional travel may be required.
