To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for a Hardware Development PM to join the team.

The development hardware program manager will play a pivotal role in E2E product development of infrastructure hardware and multi-source programs at scale that have a significant impact the business and Azure. The candidates will collaborate with both internal Microsoft teams and external partners (OEMs/ODMs, Systems, and others to driver delivery of high-quality products to our production fleet that enable our business success at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Manager in virtual team including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, cross platform teams, networking and datacenter operations for documenting a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for the new product development and driving the project team to meet stated milestones.
  • Drive technical hardware programs from requirements through launch, including managing complex project schedules, removing roadblocks, and keeping processes running smoothly
  • Technical Program Management for new Cloud hardware development.  Drive the development, planning & execution of a holistic cross functional product development and/or launch strategy.  Provides technical leadership and identify technical risks.
  • Align key stakeholders and manage projects through milestones to completion on schedule and in budget, with uncompromising quality.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technology development partners to form a cohesive development plan.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams (both external and internal) to define, prioritize, and implement features, processes, and workflows to drive Azure hardware development programs.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure.  Leverage experience and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through a cross functional team.
  • Manage product BOMs/releases and engineering builds.
  • Manage design verification testing and drive bugs for closure.
  • Monitor and measure engineering impact and performance results by tracking key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made.
  • Conducts risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and mitigation of risks, recovery from risks.
  • Communicate to and regularly interact with senior management, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product level decisions.
  • Operate effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process where it's needed. Recognize the situations where each approach is most appropriate.
  • Personally navigate and skillfully assist others through complex, interrelated technical challenges and business issues to deliver impactful results.  This includes timely reporting of meaningful status and supporting detail to senior leadership and other internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards development milestones and overall readiness for all new Data Center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments.
  • Use program management tools and communication methods to ensure common understanding of program plan of record to stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications :

  • BS in Engineering preferably in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. Engineering degree preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to partner closely with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and implement features, infrastructure, processes, and workflows.
  • Ability to create and operationalize processes to transform the effectiveness of the organization with respect to meeting business goals. Coach, enable and grow Program Managers within the team and our partners.
  • Can align key stakeholders, and manage projects through milestones to completion on schedule and in budget
  • Ability to monitor and measure engineering impact and performance results by tracking key performance indicators.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired)

  • Excellent technical design, problem solving, debugging and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in shipping high quality products and services.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, assess opportunities and develop principles to prioritize multiple strategic and tactical options, and drive issues to closure with a high bar on quality.
  • Proven ability to work and collaborate with a wide range of business stakeholders to achieve results and impact.
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, IT management, etc.)
  • Supplier management experience.
  • Data analytics skills. Power BI, Power Automate, VBA are preferred.
