Position: Principal II, Facility Design

The team is responsible for End to End Design of FCs and HUBs for Coupang including site finalization, conceptualization, concept drawing, design discussions with vendors. Accountable for efficient facility design considering Capex, Opex, delivery lead time, operations lead time and safety, and planning of new upcoming facilities and expansion of existing facilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize and design Fulfillment Center (FC) layouts in collaboration with the Automation Design team
  • Develop racking and mezzanine layouts for new and existing FCs to meet operational and business requirements
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure design specifications are clearly communicated and implemented
  • Obtain layout approvals from all stakeholders—including Operations, Safety, and Security teams—by presenting and explaining design details
  • Drive projects with urgency to ensure timely delivery while maintaining quality and safety standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; fluent in English
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in racking or automation project design
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working with racking or automation vendors
  • Strong proficiency in English for effective communication with diverse stakeholders
  • Expertise in CAD layout design
  • Advanced skills in data analysis using Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in e-commerce or retail industry operations
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering principles as they apply to warehouse construction and infrastructure
  • Familiarity with building codes, structural considerations, and safety standards for industrial facilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including construction, automation, and operations
