Scope 

The Director of Product and Test Engineering will lead Ambiq's product and test engineering teams based in Taiwan. This role requires a strong technical leader with extensive experience in semiconductor product development, test methodology, and project management. The Director will ensure the successful transition of products from design to mass production, optimizing cost, quality, and time-to-market.  

This role will work with Validation engineering, SOC engineering, IP engineering and Operation teams to successfully launch new products into high volume production with yield.  

The successful candidate is responsible for developing and implementing production test solutions, characterization, reliability and qualification testing, failure analysis and ensuring the new product has a smooth transition to high volume manufacturing. The Director is also responsible for hiring, directing, mentoring and retaining the talent. 

This is a hands-on position where the successful candidate will lead the PTE group in planning and implementation of test solutions for new products and deliver the solutions meeting yield, quality and product cost goal targets on schedule. 

The Director of Product and Test Engineering will be responsible for leading the product and test engineering teams in Taiwan. This role requires a strong technical leader with extensive experience in semiconductor product development, test methodology, and project management. The Director will ensure the successful transition of products from design to mass production, optimizing cost, quality, and time-to-market. 

Responsibilities 

• Management and technical leadership of Ambiq's PTE teams in Taiwan and the ability to travel when necessary  
• Develop schedules and manage resources to achieve on-time delivery of PTE team deliverables within cost goals  
• Work closely with the design team to thoroughly understand the product and guide chip design solutions for efficient and robust product test  
• Plan, design and develop robust and innovative production test solutions to achieve yield, test time, quality and product cost goal.  
• Reliability testing, qualification and characterization of products for mass production  
• Develop scripts and tools for pattern generation, data parsing, yield analysis and production support  
• Manage outside contractors, as necessary, to achieve group goals within budget  
• Ensure that products shipped meet specifications and exceed quality goals  
• Continued involvement in test time and COGs reduction after solutions have been released for production  
• Debug and analysis of return.  
• Solve problems where analysis and solutions require broad experience and innovation  
• Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action 

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in product and test engineering within the semiconductor industry. ? 
• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering teams.
• Extensive knowledge of semiconductor test methodologies, ATE platforms (Coho Diamond is preferred, Advantest 93k experience is bonus), and DFT techniques.
• Strong understanding of product characterization, validation, and qualification processes.
• Excellent project management and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is essential.
• Experience working with overseas customers and engineering teams is a plus.
• Experience with yield enhancement and cost reduction of semiconductor products is a must.
• Knowledge of ISO9001 and other relevant quality standards.
