Serviceability & Manufacturability Hardware Design Engineer

Mechanical Engineering drives the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts analysis, feasibility studies and testing of mechanical products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to manufacturing organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Focus on Hardware device/commodity design/architecture concepts and their relationship with computer system mechanical chassis designs and assembly.

  • Drive best-in-class design concept alignment between device and system engineering that enables system-level fully automated manufacturing/assembly while supporting field serviceability agility.

  • Engage with Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) on factory processes with a focus on automated assembly and Design for Manufacturing Assembly Automation (DFMAA).

  • Collaborate with Device Architects on respective commodities and suppliers to develop improved solutions, rethink approaches, and update Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), and specifications.

  • Capture lessons learned into future designs, RFI/RFQs, and specifications.
