Hardware Design Lead - Serviceability & Manufacturability

Mechanical engineers in this role lead and deliver the development of innovative and compliant mechanical design solutions, including cross-functional interfaces for computer systems and peripherals. The team conducts thorough analysis, feasibility studies, and testing of mechanical products, instruments, subassemblies, and packaging for new and existing products, ensuring seamless design changes to manufacturing organizations.

Main Duties

  • Bridge device commodity, system architecture, and manufacturing capabilities by focusing on manufacturing automation and downstream serviceability.

  • Engage with ODMs on factory process improvements with an emphasis on automated assembly and become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on DFMAA.

  • Work closely with Device Architects on commodities and suppliers to enhance solutions, reassess approaches, and update RFI/RFQ/specifications.

  • Promote collaboration across Device, Platform teams, ODMs, and factory operations to resolve device commodity issues effectively.

  • Capture knowledge gained to inform future designs, RFI/RFQs, and specifications.
