Samba connects the advertising industry. Today, a trillion dollars of media flows through platforms that don’t talk to each other, and each one measures its own results. We built the independent alternative: consented first-party data and AI that give the world’s biggest advertisers, publishers, and platforms one clear view across all of it.
The next era of advertising will run on AI agents, and those agents will need data they can trust. We’re building that foundation, and the agents that act on it. Join us and help build what the industry runs on.
About the Role
You develop and maintain software integrations with smart TV manufacturers and platform partners, the foundational layer that lets Samba's automatic content recognition (ACR) technology run at scale on consumer devices worldwide. You start by mastering our current ACR integrations, then help evolve the platform from ACR to AI. Your code ships on millions of devices, on a small team where your work makes waves.
What You'll Do
• Integrate Hands-On: Integrate and deploy Samba's ACR client libraries and software modules onto embedded Linux and Android TV based systems.
• Port to New Hardware: Adapt and port the ACR solution to new hardware platforms, tackling different System on a Chip (SoC) architectures and driver interfaces.
• Work in Media Frameworks: Work deep within the audio and video frameworks on Linux and Android so our technology reliably captures and processes media streams.
• Solve the Hard Bugs: Investigate and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, and complex hardware and software integration issues, becoming proficient with debugging tools and log analysis.
• Build On-Device AI: Contribute to the evolution of our platform from ACR to AI, exploring, prototyping, and implementing on-device machine learning models for new, intelligent TV features.
• Analyze and Optimize: Use data and logical analysis to measure performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize ACR and future AI solutions for resource-constrained embedded environments. What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Java is essential, and one of these is the language you will be using.
• A solid foundation in operating systems concepts, with Linux experience from coursework, personal projects, or internships highly valued; you need not be an expert yet.
• Enthusiastic about embedded systems, a hands-on builder with a bias for action and an analytical mindset, using logic and data to find root causes and excited by on-device AI.
• Excellent communication and a collaborative spirit, able to articulate technical concepts clearly and open to feedback.
• A plus: familiarity with Android TV or Android Open Source Project (AOSP) development, embedded development tools such as cross-compilers and CMake, and Git version control.
• A plus: exposure to machine learning and AI concepts, such as TensorFlow Lite or PyTorch Mobile, and scripting in Python or shell for automation and testing. Samba is an equal opportunity employer.
