Job Description
Reporting to the VP & Regional General Manager, Taiwan Consumer, Medical & Information Technology (CMIT), the Director & GM Taiwan directs, plans, and coordinates activities regionally for the Taiwan CMIT division. The GM is responsible for the Taiwan P&L of the division, managing the dedicated Sales and Operations teams to high performance. Accomplishes corporately established strategic and operational goals including budgeting, financial objectives, sales, operations, and employee engagement. Develops, recommends, and implements profitable growth strategies for all product lines within the CMIT industry and region. Strong focus on working closely with sales teams in establishing relationships with key customers & clients outside Taiwan entering the market. Responsible for preparation and finalization of regional budgets and forecasts. Provide leadership and guidance to all CMIT employees in the region to ensure a high level of customer and employee satisfaction and profitable business performance. Works across divisions and regions to ensure profitable growth. Creates and maintains brand awareness and focus on public safety globally for UL Solutions.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for profit & loss for the Taiwan region.
- Ensures CMIT success and future growth by effectively driving and balancing the multiple strategic objectives of globalization, quality, and financial strength.
- Engages and motivates all CMIT regional employees with a common Vision, sense of purpose, and shared objectives for UL Solutions.
- Maintains focus on core Public Safety Mission.
- Managing internal customer base, not limited to project set up and interacting with regulatory bodies. Acts as point of contact and owner to streamline operations across from origin countries (e.g. China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, NA and EULA) to the regional UL Solutions operations and lab teams in Taiwan and ensure appropriate communication, excellent project management and fulfillment.
- Supports UL Solutions culture to serve customers globally with innovation, speed, quality and financial success; at the same time preserve positive workforce qualities of dedicated service to UL Solutions public safety mission.
- Builds a strong and internationally capable management team, including developing bench strength for long term succession planning focusing on the internal development of high potential employees wherever possible.
Qualifications
- Successful, well‑rounded executive with a University degree and typically 10‑plus years of general international management experience in dynamic manufacturing and engineering sectors from electrical, electronics, medical, TIC, telecom or similar technology-based industries.
- Proven P&L management experience and driving sustainable and profitable growth.
- Stand-alone executive experience, ideally having significant background in corporate social responsibility, corporate giving, community engagement and/or consumer affairs.
- Sensitive to Public Safety and has concern for the greater social good.
- A resourceful, decisive, and dynamic leader. An individual with a strong sense of purpose, integrity, "hands‑on" management style, cultural sensitivity, but also a compelling desire to succeed. Possesses a healthy level of impatience with the status quo and can execute the required culture change globally without serious damage to employee engagement.
- A keen intellect with superior strategic skills, proven general management, and leadership abilities. A strong commercial orientation, but sensitive to public safety mission.
- Organizational savvy, ideally having successfully led in a matrixed organizational structure.
- Outstanding motivational and coaching abilities; a team builder and leader; one who can inspire an organization to reach superior levels of performance.
- An innovative and resourceful problem solver with a strong entrepreneurial bent; an individual who is firm and decisive in addressing difficult issues and can operate effectively in fast‑paced and demanding environments.
