Software Engineering Manager, Cloud Platforms Server System

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in C or C++.
- 3 years of experience building and developing on embedded systems.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects.
- 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision or team leadership role.
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role within a complex organization.
- Experience in software/hardware integration, hyperscale server platform design, firmware development, system architecture, bring-up, and diagnostics.
- Experience with large-scale, secure fleet management of servers and components.
- Proficiency in developer operations, release management, integration testing, test automation, open source development, or Open Compute Projects (OCP).
About the job
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will build the servers with the latest technologies for high performance, quality, reliability, security, efficiency, and manageability. With the significant growth in Google Cloud business, you are tasked to enable more workloads on the Google infrastructure, and you will be working closely with partners and communities to develop open source ecosystems for hyperscale servers to ensure timely adoption of the best technologies.
In this role, you will have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You will not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. You will manage the project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop the team.The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what's possible. Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of a scalable, high-quality Cloud server program from conception to launch.
- Define and communicate team priorities, aligning strategy, processes, and decision-making with broader organizational goals.
- Triage, debug, and resolve product or system issues by analyzing their impact on hardware, network, and service quality.
- Provide performance coaching and feedback, setting clear expectations for individuals based on their role and organizational goals.
- Develop and evolve the long-term technical goal and roadmap, overseeing systems designs and reviewing code to solve complex problems.
