OE - Production & Process Engineer (Simulation and Planning)

SHL (Scandinavian Health Ltd) is currently the world's largest privately-owned designer, developer and manufacturer of advanced drug delivery systems. 【Job Overview】

This role is embedded in the
Factory Development & Projects group
within our Global Operations Engineering team in Taiwan.
You will take a leading role in advancing SHL's simulation capabilities to support our global expansion and factory optimization strategies through the development of advanced plant simulation and process models.

The position requires a strong understanding of logistics, BOM structures, and manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled in collecting, organizing, and visualizing operational data to support simulation modeling and data-driven decision-making.

【Responsibilities】

• Collect and analyze data, process flows, and operational details from manufacturing sites to develop accurate plant simulation models.
• Implement advanced, model-based factory planning and optimization processes using a standardized, modular, and reusable approach to simulation modeling.
• Develop discrete event simulation models for various aspects of manufacturing operations, including Injection Molding, Assembly, Packaging, Logistics, Material Flow, and Production Planning.
• Maintain and manage databases related to factory operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency in data handling.
• Organize factory operations into structured presentations, process maps, and UML diagrams for clear communication with stakeholders.
• Utilize SAP systems, particularly APS, MES, and EWM, to extract and analyze manufacturing and logistics data for process improvements.
• Verify and optimize factory layouts, designs, and capacities using simulation tools and data-driven calculations to support critical business decisions.
• Document and present simulation results with a clear focus on assumptions, constraints, objectives, and outcomes based on empirical and statistical data.
• Develop high-level visualizations of factory operations and detailed subsystem analyses to enhance decision-making.
• Improve existing frameworks for knowledge management, model validation, and simulation capabilities for factory planning and optimization.
• Enhance relevant procedures/processes and ensure knowledge transfer and training within Operations.

【Qualification】

• M.Sc. in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a relevant field (System Engineering, Production Management, Logistics, with a focus on statistics and optimization). A PhD is a plus. Strong candidates who are keen to learn may be considered for their first job after graduation.
• Relevant experience in logistics, BOM structures, and manufacturing operations, with expertise in material flow simulation, throughput analysis, bottleneck identification, resource optimization, and inventory management.
• Experience in factory planning, process development, and manufacturing optimization.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with a structured working style and high attention to detail in complex systems.
• Self-starter with a fast-learning ability, capable of working in a dynamic, complex environment with ambiguous requirements.
• Strong capabilities in presentation design, data storytelling and visualization
• Strong intercultural and interdisciplinary communication skills, with excellent written and verbal English.

【Qualification】Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Discrete Event Simulation Software for modeling and simulation – preferably Tecnomatix / Siemens Plant Simulation.
• Strong understanding of SAP systems, like EWM(Extended Warehouse Management), also APS (Advanced Planning and Scheduling), MES (Manufacturing Execution System)
• Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, including Excel (PivotTables and VBA), SQL, and Python, for data collection, processing, and reporting.
• Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD tools is a plus.
