Senior Frontend Engineer

Company Overview

GMI Cloud is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to lead our frontend development initiatives and mentor our growing engineering team. You'll architect scalable React applications and establish best practices that drive our product development.

Position Summary

We need a React expert who can take ownership of complex frontend challenges, from performance optimization to component architecture. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with leadership skills to guide our frontend development strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

* Architect scalable React applications with optimal component design and state management

* Lead performance optimization initiatives including code splitting, lazy loading, and bundle optimization

* Design and implement reusable component libraries and design systems

* Establish frontend best practices, coding standards, and development workflows

* Make informed architectural decisions on tooling, frameworks, and development approaches

Development Excellence

* Build complex, responsive web applications using React ecosystem and modern CSS frameworks

* Implement advanced React patterns (custom hooks, compound components, context optimization)

* Create pixel-perfect, accessible interfaces that work across all browsers and devices

* Integrate with APIs and manage complex application state using Redux Toolkit or modern alternatives

* Optimize applications for Core Web Vitals and overall user experience

Team Mentorship

* Mentor junior and mid-level frontend developers through code reviews and pair programming

* Conduct technical interviews and contribute to hiring decisions

* Lead frontend technical discussions and knowledge sharing sessions

* Collaborate with design and product teams to translate requirements into technical solutions

What Makes a Senior Frontend Engineer

React Mastery:

* 5+ years building production React applications with advanced component patterns

* Expert-level understanding of React hooks, lifecycle optimization, and concurrent features

* Proven ability to architect state management for complex applications

* Experience with React 18+ features including Suspense, Error Boundaries, and Server Components

CSS Framework & Styling Authority:

* Advanced Tailwind CSS implementation with custom configuration and theming[a] (we use shadcn)

* Expertise in CSS-in-JS solutions (styled-components, emotion) and CSS Modules[b] (we use MUI)

* Ability to create maintainable styling architectures and responsive design systems

* Strong understanding of modern CSS features (Grid, Flexbox, Custom Properties)

Performance & Optimization Expert:

* Proven track record of identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks

* Experience with bundle analysis, code splitting, and loading optimization

* Knowledge of browser rendering processes and Core Web Vitals optimization

* Ability to implement effective caching strategies and lazy loading patterns

Testing & Quality Leadership:

* Comprehensive testing experience with Jest, React Testing Library, and E2E frameworks

* Establishes testing strategies and quality gates for development teams

* Experience with test-driven development and testing best practices

Modern Development Workflow:

* Advanced TypeScript skills with React integration and type safety

* Build tool expertise (Vite, Webpack) with custom configuration and optimization

* CI/CD pipeline setup for frontend applications with automated testing and deployment

* Proficiency with modern development tools and debugging techniques

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise

* 5+ years of professional React development with demonstrable senior-level contributions

* Advanced React ecosystem knowledge: Hooks, Context API, Redux Toolkit, React Router

* CSS framework mastery: Tailwind CSS, styled-components, or similar modern styling solutions

* TypeScript proficiency: Type-safe React development with advanced patterns

* Testing expertise: Unit, integration, and E2E testing with modern frameworks

* Build tool knowledge: Vite, Webpack, or similar bundlers with optimization experience

Leadership & Soft Skills

* Proven experience mentoring developers and leading technical initiatives

* Strong problem-solving skills with ability to debug complex frontend issues

* Excellent communication skills for technical discussions with various stakeholders

* Experience with code review processes and establishing development standards

* Ability to work collaboratively in agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications[c][d]

* Experience with or other React-based frameworks

* Experience with Vue (legacy code maintenance required)

* Background in design systems and component library development

* Knowledge of micro-frontend architectures or module federation

* Experience with data visualization libraries , Recharts, )

* Contributions to open source React ecosystem projects

* Previous experience in technical leadership or senior IC roles

* Understanding of web performance monitoring and optimization tools

* Familiarity with monorepo architecture (we use Nx)
