Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Firmware QA Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. In this role you will be responsible for validating firmware functionality and performance, to collaborate cross-functional teams to deliver quality products to our customers. This position reports to the Manager, Firmware QA.

Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties

  • Understand product features and define test scenarios and methodologies
  • Perform automated and manual tests according to the test plan and create test reports
  • Identify, isolate, and document bugs clearly and concisely in the bug tracking system
  • Design automated testing software/scripts to facilitate the validation process
  • Collaborate with cross-function teams on product development and defining the test cases for new functionality and features
  • Proactively work with engineers to clarify issues/bugs and refine the testing strategy
  • Perform test tool maintenance and automation test development

  • Familiar with QA validation methodologies and able to perform QA testing independently
  • Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate.
  • Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas.
  • Resourceful and able to solve complex problems through practical use of technology and a solid understanding of product architecture.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, in English.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse cross-functional team.

Qualifications (Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Solid knowledge of PC architecture and operating systems desired
  • Strong programming skills in C# & Python
  • Experience with automation test development
  • Experience with common test equipment such as logic analyzer, oscilloscope, function generator, etc.
  • No travel required
