What You'll Do

  • Collaborate closely with project and programme managers, product managers, and designers to fully understand and establish detailed product requirements for new video solutions.
  • Propose innovative yet cost-effective optical solutions tailored to user needs and portfolio objectives while maintaining alignment with market demands.
  • Participate actively in evaluating competitor products, testing emerging technologies, and contributing to new developments within the field of optics.
  • Play a key role in defining hardware system architecture for upcoming products by integrating optical expertise into broader engineering efforts.
  • Optimise existing portfolios of optical systems by providing ongoing production support and identifying areas for enhancement or efficiency gains.
  • Design new optical systems from concept through implementation based on evolving product requirements and technological advancements.
  • Utilise advanced optical simulation tools to develop robust designs for video sensors that meet stringent performance criteria.
  • Qualify newly developed optical systems by overseeing tooling part validation and ensuring all components meet quality standards before mass production.
  • Apply hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and debugging production lines to ensure smooth transitions from prototype to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers, design partners, and factories around the globe to achieve cost targets, adhere to schedules, and deliver superior customer experiences.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physical Engineering or an equivalent discipline is required.
  • Minimum five years' experience within the video industry—such as webcams, security cameras or related fields—is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated fluency with 3D modelling software such as ProE or similar platforms for precise component design.
  • Expertise in using optical design tools like Zemax to create high-performance optical systems tailored for video applications.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive optical simulations using software such as Trace Pro to propose effective solutions aligned with technical requirements.
  • Strong cross-functional understanding encompassing mechanical engineering principles, sensor selection processes, and embedded firmware integration.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality assurance methodologies including DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis), DFMA (Design for Manufacturability), PSS (Product Service Systems), and tolerance analysis techniques.
  • Ability to identify critical requirements for new products, formalise them into actionable technical specifications, and recommend cost-effective approaches that deliver outstanding results.
  • Proven capability in managing multiple tasks across concurrent projects while contributing meaningfully to innovation initiatives within tight timelines.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required for supplier engagement or project coordination.
