We are looking for a skilled full-stack backend-focused developer to take responsibility for the development and refinement of our services. As a senior full-stack developer, you will work as part of a team that uses a full scrum process to deliver a high-quality distributed system. You will also have opportunities to learn new B2B services and technologies with engineers at Facebook, Stripe, Google, LINE, Uber, etc to help our restaurant clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build a robust, high-performance distributed backend platform
  • Collaborate with team members to define, design, and ship new features and products
  • Work on tracing online issues and bug fixing
  • Co-work with customer service (on-call) to help restaurants resolve their issues

Hard Requirements

  • Proven more than 5 years of work experience as a backend developer
  • Strong understanding of Express
  • Server-side TypeScript / Javascript experience, running services in GCP or AWS
  • Skills investigating GCP or AWS logs to identify, validate, and solve issues in code, and configurations
  • Familiarity with unit tests & integration tests
  • Familiarity with Relational Databases
  • Familiarity with at least one NoSQL Database
  • Experience with distributed systems, workers/queues, and handling race conditions.
  • One example challenge we dealt with in the past is dealing with synchronizing multiple servers or workers that need to be coordinated. For example, in our booking system, tables are a limited resources, but multiple patrons may be attempting to acquire tables at a very popular restaurant (which may sell out quickly in as little as 30 seconds) while also taking into account the restaurant may impose conditions such as being able to merge or split tables (e.g. some tables of 2 can be combined to form a table of 4 or 6.)

Soft Requirements

  • Work experience with React / Redux (Angular, Vue, or other roughly equivalent experience is acceptable)
  • Familiarity with TDD
  • Familiarity with CI/CD
  • Familiarity with Clean Architecture is a plus
  • Familiarity with WebSocket is a plus
  • Familiarity with Docker / Kubernetes is a plus
