Senior Principal Product Development Manager

Dell's Special Vehicles Team (SVT) within the Experience Innovation Group is responsible for delivering technology demonstrations, proof of concepts, and advancing Dell's leadership in innovation. This team brings together experts from multiple development disciplines to introduce innovative solutions and advance technology development for customers.

The Senior Principal Product Development Manager will manage and drive the investigation and incubation of new technology and form factor experiences with cross-functional technologists and internal and external partners.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead a matrixed engineering team in evaluating new technology and hardware form factors, proof of concepts, ingredient identification, and development with technologists and partners.
  • Act as primary point of contact and coordinate development and test resources to release new concepts on time and within budget. Provide daily direction and tasking to a team of hardware and system engineers.
  • Develop the engineering schedule in coordination with extended teams and Core Team, determining and managing the engineering budget.
  • Develop the prototype build plan in coordination with extended teams.
  • Guide activities of Original Design Manufacturers (ODM), coordinate build and allocation of prototype systems, and drive initial triage, debug, and resolution of engineering defects.

Key Requirements:

  • A proven track record of end-to-end system hardware and solution development from concept to mass production, including architecture definition, design, production, support, and de-bug.
  • Cross-functional knowledge of consumer electronics engineering development areas related to user experience and industrial design, with engineering discipline and rigor.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, required for presenting technical content and sharing information with key stakeholders.
  • A team player with strong collaboration across cross-functional teams, internal and external to the organization.
