Job SummaryBritish Primary Section of Taipei European School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Music Teacher to join our primary team.ResponsibilitiesTeachers at Taipei European School make the education of their pupils their first concern, and are accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct.   • To ensure Music is an integral part of the school and to ensure Taipei European School continues to be a successful FOBISIA centre of excellence.
  • To teach all children in the school Music, with an emphasis on the Early Years and Key Stage 1, implementing good practice in terms of child-centred learning, classroom organisation, the learning environment, display, resource and expectations of the children.
  • To assist the Subject Leader in being responsible for the Music curriculum, planning, assessment, recording and monitoring of children's progress, and the subject in general, and as appropriate consult with colleagues.
  • To measure progress across each year group making use of school's present assessment procedures and developing new ones as appropriate and evaluating pupils' work.
  • To assist in developing and encouraging parental involvement in the life of the school, through Music.
  • To help the music subject leader and other specialists with the organisation of the dance/drama/musical performances within the school eg as part of assemblies and year group shows.
  • To look for opportunities to promote Music to wider audiences, including the outside community.
  • To organise opportunities for children to explore Music with the help of outside agencies, including visits and visitors.
  • To assist the British Primary Music Subject Leader in organising Music events, including local and international competition.
QualificationsCandidates must have a minimum of a B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE and appropriate experience. Experience of working in a mainstream international school with a Western pedagogical background would be a significant advantage. You will need to be a qualified teacher who is a fluent English speaker and who is an excellent communicator.
