Job Description:

   

This position is a technical engineer role. The cable & connector engineer will work in a project team to deliver the next generation of industry standard server platforms as well as to sustain shipping products. Primary responsibility is to lead and manage cable and connector design, qualification and consolidation within engineering organization. The cable & connector engineer will be responsible for the overall system cable & connector solutions, creation of specifications, design review and qualification, and testing and validation. Experience designing electrical connectors, high durability, speed and signal connector and advance degree design, simulate and test mechanical components and integrate them into complete server system.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the design, development and qualification of high-speed connector & cable assembly products for applications in server, storage, networking, data center areasâ¦etc..
  • Responsible for cable and connector consolidation and driving leveraging across platforms.
  • Working with system mechanical engineers to define and design cable routing solutions within the servers.  
  • Propose system interconnect strategies and select connectors for various signals based on internal requirements and strategies.
  • Knowledge of various interconnect standards and protocols. Ability to understand and analyze data from datasheets and measurements.
  • Candidate will work with various electrical and mechanical engineers to identify solutions and keep other teams moving is crucial to success in this role. Candidate should have strong theoretical knowledge and hands-on capability in the area of connectors and harnesses.
  • Responsibility includes understanding the requirements (EE/ME/EMI/EMC etc..) and select connector solution whether of-the-shelf or design in-house custom design. Candidate will also characterize and make appropriate adjustments for interconnect performance under electrical, environmental & mechanical stresses
  • Develop product specs, application specs and other engineering standards associated with the product performances and applications.
  • Validate, test, and iterate on existing mechanical and electromechanical systems.
  • Electromechanical, mechatronics background a very strong plus.


Expert in your chosen field, youâll be responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating the design.  As part of the technical function, you will be responsible in working with select vendors to manage the product specification, development schedule, meet various deliverables, resolve technical issues, and ensure product meets specification, cost and quality goals.  You will be responsible in guiding and directing vendors to deliver designs, implementation, monitor testing, review cost and review technical design information to provide clear direction to vendor. 

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelorâs (Undergraduate), Masterâs (graduate) or Ph. D (post-graduate) degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.  Minimum of 7 years of experience in connector & cable design.  

Skills:

  • Knowledge of connector technologies and related manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of molding and machining processes and advanced materials, such as performance-enhanced filled composites
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma and LEAN Manufacturing (Green Belt in Six Sigma is desirable)
  • Knowledge in molding, stamping, PCB, plating, assembly process, product development process.
  • Experience with terminal and connector requirements & testing is preferred
  • Experience effectively dealing with conflict.
  • Communicates well verbally, in writing, and graphically.
  • Ability to establish clear goals and formulate plans to achieve them.
  • Good root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Works independently and as part of a team.
  • Excited about technology and has the desire to learn new tasks and technologies.
  • Fluency in English and local language
