MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES (BUT NOT LIMITED TO) :
- Ensure compliance with Research & Development, Technology Team, and Company approved policies and procedures. Adhere to company EH&S codes.Â
- Patent Search and Analysis: Conducting comprehensive searches to identify existing patents and prior art related to new inventions or technologies.
- Patent Drafting: Drafting patent applications in collaboration with inventors, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of inventions.
- Patent Prosecution: Managing the patent application process, including responding to office actions from patent offices, conducting interviews with examiners, and filing necessary paperwork.
- Technical Expertise: Understanding complex technical concepts across various fields to accurately describe inventions in patent applications.
- IP Portfolio Management: Assisting in the management of intellectual property portfolios, including tracking patent applications, grants, and maintenance fees.
- Legal Research: Conducting legal research on patent laws, regulations, and case law to ensure compliance and provide strategic advice.
- Legal Research Excellence: Collaborate with Internal Research support team & Data science with patent searching tools and databases to improve efficiency of legal research operation.
- Collaboration with technology team: Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders to understand inventions, identify patentable aspects, and develop patent strategies.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of patent-related activities, including correspondence, filings, and deadlines.
- Intellectual Property Strategy: Contributing to the development of intellectual property strategies aligned with business goals and objectives.
- Patent Litigation Support: Providing technical expertise and support during patent litigation, including analyzing patents, prior art, and technical documents.
Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in engineering, science, or a related field. Advanced degrees (masterâs or PhD) are often preferred. Strong understanding of patent laws, regulations, and procedures. Experience with patent searching tools and databases (e.g., PatentScope, Google Patents, etc.). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively. Attention to detail and accuracy in drafting patent applications and other legal documents. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools. Previous experience in patent prosecution or intellectual property management is preferred but not always required.
Skills:
Technical proficiency in a specific field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biotechnology, etc.). Analytical and research skills to identify relevant prior art and assess patentability. Legal acumen to understand patent laws, regulations, and procedures. Communication skills to effectively collaborate with inventors, attorneys, and stakeholders. Organizational skills to manage patent portfolios and meet deadlines.
